Samedi de l\u2019absurde<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Comment rep\u00e9rer qu\u2019une image a \u00e9t\u00e9 g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9e par une IA ? Le pi\u00e8ge, aujourd\u2019hui, est simple : les d\u00e9fauts grossiers disparaissent, mais les incoh\u00e9rences, elles, restent. Et c\u2019est pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment l\u00e0 que le cerveau humain garde encore un avantage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

L\u2019image ci-dessus est un excellent terrain d\u2019entra\u00eenement. On y voit un d\u00e9cor de studio cr\u00e9dible, un visage convaincant, une lumi\u00e8re flatteuse, un cadrage propre. Bref, tout ce qu\u2019il faut pour cr\u00e9er une impression de r\u00e9alit\u00e9. Puis, quand on ralentit une seconde, l\u2019illusion se fissure. Les cercles rouges vous guident, mais le vrai sujet n\u2019est pas de \u201ctrouver l\u2019erreur\u201d. Le vrai sujet, c\u2019est d\u2019apprendre \u00e0 regarder autrement. L\u2019image fournie montre justement ce m\u00e9lange tr\u00e8s cr\u00e9dible et tr\u00e8s absurde : d\u00e9cor de bureau r\u00e9aliste, troph\u00e9e mural plausible, mais aussi une ch\u00e8vre dans la pi\u00e8ce, une autruche surgissant du cadre, un pied disproportionn\u00e9 et un objet de bureau difficile \u00e0 identifier pr\u00e8s du clavier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00c7a ne me d\u00e9range pas qu\u2019une image soit g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9e avec une IA. Ce qui me d\u00e9range, c\u2019est quand on essaie de me vendre une fiction synth\u00e9tique comme une preuve du r\u00e9el.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pendant longtemps, on r\u00e9p\u00e9tait les m\u00eames recettes : regardez les doigts, comptez les dents, cherchez les oreilles bizarres. Le probl\u00e8me, c\u2019est que ces indices deviennent moins fiables. Les mod\u00e8les progressent vite. Des guides r\u00e9cents rappellent m\u00eame que les mains ne suffisent plus \u00e0 elles seules pour trancher. Les indices utiles, aujourd\u2019hui, sont plus subtils : coh\u00e9rence globale, logique physique, provenance du fichier, contexte de publication, et parfois pr\u00e9sence de m\u00e9tadonn\u00e9es ou de marquages techniques comme les Content Credentials ou des filigranes invisibles. Les standards de provenance comme C2PA et les Content Credentials existent justement pour documenter l\u2019origine et les modifications d\u2019un contenu, m\u00eame si cela ne r\u00e8gle pas tout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Premier r\u00e9flexe : traquez la coh\u00e9rence, pas seulement le d\u00e9tail.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Une image IA peut r\u00e9ussir un visage et rater le monde autour. C\u2019est souvent l\u2019arri\u00e8re-plan qui trahit la sc\u00e8ne. L\u2019AP recommande de v\u00e9rifier la coh\u00e9rence des ombres, des lumi\u00e8res et du d\u00e9cor, parce qu\u2019un sujet principal peut para\u00eetre tr\u00e8s net alors que le fond devient illogique ou \u201ctrop lisse\u201d. Le Guardian souligne aussi les motifs incoh\u00e9rents, les objets mal raccord\u00e9s et les \u00e9l\u00e9ments textuels encore fragiles dans beaucoup d\u2019images synth\u00e9tiques.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Deuxi\u00e8me r\u00e9flexe : cherchez la logique physique.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Dans notre image, tout semble propret, mais l\u2019ensemble raconte une sc\u00e8ne qui bascule dans l\u2019impossible. Une ch\u00e8vre dans un studio, une autruche qui regarde la cam\u00e9ra, un pied mis en avant avec une taille et une perspective volontairement d\u00e9rangeantes, un objet noir sur le bureau qui ressemble \u00e0 quelque chose sans \u00eatre clairement identifiable. L\u2019IA adore fabriquer des objets \u201cpresque vrais\u201d. Elle donne au cerveau assez de signal pour reconna\u00eetre une cat\u00e9gorie, mais pas assez de pr\u00e9cision pour valider l\u2019objet. C\u2019est l\u00e0 qu\u2019il faut r\u00e9sister \u00e0 notre r\u00e9flexe naturel de compl\u00e9ter les trous. Dans mon livre, chapitre 6, j\u2019explique justement combien notre cerveau se laisse pi\u00e9ger par ses biais de cadrage et ses raccourcis mentaux quand une sc\u00e8ne para\u00eet globalement plausible. Ici, l\u2019IA exploite exactement cette faille cognitive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Troisi\u00e8me r\u00e9flexe : m\u00e9fiez-vous de la perfection cosm\u00e9tique.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Les experts interrog\u00e9s par AP News \u00e9voquent souvent une texture anormalement polie, une peau trop propre, une mati\u00e8re trop homog\u00e8ne, comme si le r\u00e9el avait \u00e9t\u00e9 pass\u00e9 au papier de verre. Ce lissage ne concerne pas seulement la peau. Il touche les murs, les tissus, les lampes, les reflets, les meubles. Le r\u00e9el a du bruit, de la friction, de la micro-imperfection. L\u2019IA, elle, a longtemps pr\u00e9f\u00e9r\u00e9 la version \u201ctrop bien finie\u201d du monde, et m\u00eame si elle s\u2019am\u00e9liore, cette esth\u00e9tique reste un signal faible utile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Quatri\u00e8me r\u00e9flexe : regardez ce qui est cens\u00e9 \u00eatre banal.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

L\u2019IA est parfois plus cr\u00e9dible sur le spectaculaire que sur l\u2019ordinaire. Un visage dramatique, une sc\u00e8ne de science-fiction ou une image hyper-stylis\u00e9e peuvent mieux passer qu\u2019une simple plaque murale, qu\u2019un texte imprim\u00e9, qu\u2019un interrupteur, qu\u2019une couture, qu\u2019une articulation de lampe. Dans notre visuel, la plaque YouTube au mur para\u00eet plausible \u00e0 premi\u00e8re vue, puis devient \u00e9trange d\u00e8s qu\u2019on s\u2019y attarde. M\u00eame chose pour l\u2019objet noir pos\u00e9 sur le bureau : l\u2019image vous sugg\u00e8re une fonction, sans vous en donner une lecture nette. Quand le banal devient flou, l\u2019alarme doit s\u2019allumer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cinqui\u00e8me r\u00e9flexe : v\u00e9rifiez la provenance avant de commenter.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Une image seule, sortie de son contexte, vous manipule plus facilement. D\u2019o\u00f9 vient-elle ? Qui la publie ? Existe-t-il d\u2019autres vues de la sc\u00e8ne ? Y a-t-il un historique \u00e9ditorial cr\u00e9dible ? Des initiatives comme SynthID chez Google cherchent \u00e0 int\u00e9grer des filigranes invisibles d\u00e9tectables dans certains contenus g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9s par IA. Adobe, Microsoft et l\u2019\u00e9cosyst\u00e8me C2PA poussent aussi les Content Credentials pour associer \u00e0 un fichier une histoire technique de cr\u00e9ation et de modification. Cela ne signifie pas que tout contenu sans marquage est faux, ni que tout contenu marqu\u00e9 devient automatiquement fiable. Cela signifie simplement qu\u2019\u00e0 l\u2019avenir, la question ne sera plus seulement \u201cque vois-je ?\u201d mais \u201cquelle trace v\u00e9rifiable accompagne ce que je vois ?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sixi\u00e8me r\u00e9flexe : acceptez que la d\u00e9tection devienne un exercice probabiliste.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

L\u2019\u00e9poque du \u201cje sais \u00e0 100 %\u201d touche \u00e0 sa fin. Le NIST travaille justement sur l\u2019\u00e9valuation des syst\u00e8mes de d\u00e9tection et de forensique appliqu\u00e9s aux contenus g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9s et manipul\u00e9s, ce qui montre bien que l\u2019identification robuste reste un chantier technique s\u00e9rieux, pas un jeu de devinettes de comptoir<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Septi\u00e8me r\u00e9flexe : entra\u00eenez votre culture visuelle.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Plus vous regardez des images g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9es, plus vous rep\u00e9rez leurs tics. Le probl\u00e8me n\u2019est pas uniquement technique. Il est culturel. Une personne qui comprend la narration visuelle, la photographie, la perspective, la mati\u00e8re, la lumi\u00e8re, l\u2019intention de mise en sc\u00e8ne et les limites des g\u00e9n\u00e9rateurs verra plus vite les coutures. Dans mon livre, chapitre 14, je parle de l\u2019application de l\u2019intelligence artificielle avec une id\u00e9e simple : l\u2019outil impressionne facilement quand on l\u2019observe de loin ; c\u2019est l\u2019usage, la m\u00e9thode et le discernement qui font la diff\u00e9rence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le point le plus important est peut-\u00eatre celui-ci : une image g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9e par IA n\u2019est pas forc\u00e9ment un probl\u00e8me. <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Le probl\u00e8me commence quand on efface son statut pour lui donner l\u2019autorit\u00e9 du r\u00e9el. L\u00e0, on quitte le terrain de la cr\u00e9ation pour entrer dans celui de la manipulation.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Alors oui, sur cette image, les cercles rouges aident. Mais dans la vraie vie, vous n\u2019aurez pas les cercles rouges. Vous n\u2019aurez que votre attention, votre sens critique, et votre capacit\u00e9 \u00e0 poser une question simple avant de partager : \u201cQu\u2019est-ce qui, dans cette image, m\u00e9rite d\u2019\u00eatre v\u00e9rifi\u00e9 ?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
